About our School

Located in a residential area, Leominster High School's current facility, which opened in 1963, is a sprawling, two-story building sitting on a 26 acre campus. Major additions to the school occurred in 1977 and in 1991, which made it handicapped accessible. Currently the school is preparing for a school-wide renovation project funded by the Massachusetts School Building Authority which should begin in 2010.

Leominster High School is divided into Small Learning Communities comprised of five seperate schools under the umbrella of three Houses, House Blue, House White, and House CTE. Each house has their own administrator, dean, and guidance counselors. Freshman in each house are assigned a freshman academy team of teachers for theirs core subjects. The purpose of this initiative is the foster a sense of belonging for new students in the building since they are placed in smaller groupings as opposed to the entire frestmen class. This also promotes a team approach to teaching that allows for common planning time and easier monitoring of student progress. With few exceptions students remain in their assigned House unitil they graduate.

Students have many opportunities to be of service both to the school and to the community. Programs that are available range from the National Honor Society and the GIVE program, which are extracurricular, that encourage service to the community and our Community Service Learning and Community Career Connection classes which have students doing volunteer work for school credit within the Leominster Community. Many students participating in these programs shadow individuals working in our community and help by assignments in tutoring elementary children, assisting our Veteran's Administration, or volunteer work at our hospital.

We also offer many other programs within the school that assist students in preparing for college or the environment of work. These programs range from Talent Search through Mount Wachusett Community College, My Turn, Inc., and the Upward Bound program. We also offer visitations by college representatives, vocational job fair, career speakers, and internships/job shadowing.

Faculty/Enrollment: As of September 2009, Leominster High School has an enrollment of 1888 students spread over grades 9 through 12. There are over 230 faculty members.  We offer 12 Advanced Placement courses, 21 Honor Level courses, 12 Vocational Shops and many other classes that accommodate a wide variety of student needs. We are proud of Leominster High School and all that we can offer students. Please call and arrange a visit. Accreditation: New England Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools have issued Leominster High School a ten year accreditation. This is the top accreditation status that can be given to any high school.
