Located in a residential area, Leominster High School's current facility, which opened in 1963, is a sprawling, two-story building sitting on a 26 acre campus. Major additions to the school occurred in 1977 and in 1991, which made it handicapped accessible. Currently the school is preparing for a school-wide renovation project funded by the Massachusetts School Building Authority which should begin in 2010.
Leominster High School is divided into Small Learning Communities comprised of five seperate schools under the umbrella of three Houses, House Blue, House White, and House CTE. Each house has their own administrator, dean, and guidance counselors. Freshman in each house are assigned a freshman academy team of teachers for theirs core subjects. The purpose of this initiative is the foster a sense of belonging for new students in the building since they are placed in smaller groupings as opposed to the entire frestmen class. This also promotes a team approach to teaching that allows for common planning time and easier monitoring of student progress. With few exceptions students remain in their assigned House unitil they graduate.
