Increase in student and teacher meal prices The Leominster School Foodservice writes to notify all parents / caregivers of an increase in student breakfast & lunch prices beginning in August 2007. This increase is due to additional expenses, including the anticipated cost of fresh vegetables, fruits and products made with whole grains and no trans fats. The Leominster High, Samoset and Sky View schools will receive a 10oz. milk with their meals as the calcium and vitamin D are very important to our growing students. These products lead to healthier meals for our students. The Foodservices department also faces increased prices for food, supplies, transportation and labor costs. At this point, there is no alternative but to increase prices in order to bring your student a nutritious lunch. The Foodservices Department will increase lunch prices to $2.25 in all schools effective August 29, 2007. This will bring the cost of lunch to $2.25 and breakfast to $1.00. Teacher’s lunches will increase to $4.00. An 8oz. container of milk will continue to be $.50, while a 10oz. container of milk purchased without a lunch will be offered for $.65 at the high and middle schools. I can assure you that we are also implementing many cost effective measures to ensure that our foodservice department will remain focused on the needs of our students.
