At Bennett School and Priest Street School, anxious boys and girls stood wide-eyed in line, clutching their new Spiderman lunch boxes and wearing their stylish new backpacks. It was the first day of kindergarten! On Wednesday, September 2, 2009, the teachers at both schools welcomed the newest members of the Leominster Public Schools family. Some students began to chat with new friends in line right away. Others chose to quietly hold onto mom or dad’s hand for just a little bit longer. When it was time to go into the school, there were goodbye waves and even a few tears, but as soon as the kindergarteners entered their classrooms, they could hardly contain their excitement. It looks like it is going to be a great year!
