Adaptations and Behaviors

The fifth grade students at Southeast were able to experience how animals develop certain adaptations and behaviors in order to protect themselves and their young from predators. The students engaged in a role play that depicted how muskoxen communicate and move into circle formations to protect their young. In addition to participating, students were able to develop their observational skills as they watched the strategies of their classmates and decided what worked and what did not work.

Making Anemometers

Mr. Simoneau’s fourth grade students are making weather instruments to see how these tools are used to measure the weather in the atmosphere.

Exploding into 4th Grade

On August 31st, 2009 our first day of school, the fourth graders at Southeast Elementary School exploded into the new school year. After solving a “Mathemagician Mystery” the students constructed and erupted their own volcanoes. It was a great activity to start the year!
